Other less-satisfactory methods to waterproof a cellar that non-Basement Systems waterproofing contractors use include:

• Exterior Excavation - this is where the earth around the perimeter of your house is excavated (removing the driveway, deck, plantings) by a backhoe and a drain tile system (the same one that clogged in the first place) is put down in the dirt and re-filled over with the loose soil. This is the most expensive method and comes with a 5-10-year warranty -- but what if the system clogs again and the warranty needs to be activated, then this entire excavation process needs to be done over again)?
  
  
• Interior old-fashioned French drains or drain tile systems - these are the same systems as used in the exterior excavation, that sit down in the mud with greater potential of clogging.
  
  
• Negative-side Sealant - this includes waterproof paint and hydraulic cement, band-aids at best.
